Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC CONFIRMED? Secrets found in Red Dead App

Rockstar Games has just launched one of their biggest games ever, both in map size and scope.

A story that lasts hours and a multiplayer mode coming soon, there’s plenty to keep fans hooked on Red Dead Redemption 2.

And now it appears that evidence of a PC version of the game might have been found this week.

Data miners have taken a long hard look at the recently released Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App, to see if there were any secrets to be found.

And according to those who have done the work, there are a few very interesting lines of code to look at.

A number of parameters within the Companion App files appear to reference a PC version of the game, as well as VR support.

References to Oculus graphics options and lines that suggest a Red Dead 2 Companion App for PC provide some good news for fans who run their games on the platform.

However, it should also be noted that Rockstar Games have not announced anything connected with a PC version, meaning this remains speculation at this time.

A recent retail listing gave PC gamers hope that a Red Dead Redemption 2 release date could be pencilled in for the platform.

The listing spotted by fans in Europe appeared to show the epic Western coming to PC in 2019.

And while it looked like a placeholder, it certainly fits in with the idea that Rockstar Games will launch the game on that platform in the future.

However, since this was spotted, a statement from the retailer has confirmed that this posting was done on their own initiative.

The PC placeholder is based on the retailer’s own belief that Red Dead 2 will come to PC in the future.

While it makes sense that Red Dead Redemption 2 will eventually arrive on PC, it seems a little premature to post anything on it.

The PC version of GTA 5 has proven a massive success for Rockstar Games and still retains a large player count on Steam.

Rockstar addressed the lack of the original Red Dead Redemption on PC in a statement in 2011, explaining: “We do know that, yes, there is just one title absent from our PC release plans — that game, of course, being Red Dead Redemption, and of course we’re well aware that some fans have been asking for it.

“All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) — we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100 per cent of the time for all platforms.”

But the game could still see a PC release at some point.

Rockstar Games announced it would eventually bring Grand Theft Auto 5 to the PC around a year after it was released on the PS3, so there is hope yet for Red Dead fans.

For those that don’t know, Red Dead 2 is a prequel to the 2010 game developed by Rockstar Games.

Set in 1899, Red Dead 2 follows the story of Wild West outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Dutch Van der Linde gang.

The game has been acclaimed by critics, who praised the engaging story, the immersive open world experience, and an incredible level of detail.
