Fortnite Halloween costumes and more events teased by Epic Games

Epic Games has announced the return of the big Fortnite Halloween event, Fortnitemares.

The celebrations have been traditionally part of the Save the World mode but look set to be expanded into Battle Royale.

And from what has been teased so far, it looks like a new event will arrive before Halloween 2018.

This is based on Epic Games releasing teasers for it now, and it could prove pretty difficult to keep them up with October 31 still a week away.

It seems more likely that Epic Games will release a new Fortnite Halloween event later this week.

And from what has been teased so far, it looks like costumes could play a role.

“Costumes and dancing, Partner up, be wise. They could be friendly, Or a ghoul in disguise,” an Epic Games tease reads.

“Tombstones quake, Keep your finger steady. The circle will close, Better be ready,” another adds.

It’s fair to say that new cosmetics are on the way but this new hint could mean something more.

The reference to a Halloween costume being used as a disguise could be hinting at a special LTM.

The High Stakes events included its own LTM with unique rules and gameplay, so it stands to reason that Halloween might get something similar.

There’s a chance that this is actually hinting at something bigger, perhaps a new in-game event being cooked up by Epic Games.

We already know that the Cube has completed its rune cycle and is now ready to do something new.

The surface of the Floating Island is being consumed by the cube itself and will likely be the centrepiece of a new Halloween in-game event.

Some fans are hoping for a big purple volcano to appear on the map, although there isn’t much to back it up.

References to Lava and a volcano has been found in the Fortnite game files but have yet to be used in any discernable way.

Epic Games has also released a new image of the cube in chains, which could be a new item being added soon.

There’s also the chance it’s some kind of new backbling that will be available to unlock later in October.

The new could also be attached to Save the World mode, with new costumes mechanics a possibility moving into 2019.

The next Fortnite update will probably offer more clues and is likely to land on Tuesday, October 23.

According to the Fortnite Trello board, Epic Games is looking into Alpha Tournament issues.

The studio is also investigating an issue with crosshairs being blocked for certain outfits while aiming.

Elsewhere, Player models in Replays are sometimes getting stuck with Shadow Stone effects.

There’s also a problem with music for certain emotes not playing. There’s no date on these fixes, so it’s unlikely they’ll be completely sorted for the next update.
