Aladdin TRAILER: Did you spot the returning ORIGINAL film star?

After yesterday’s long wait for the teaser, the first look at Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin has finally arrived.

The brief trailer gives a feel for what fans can expect next May, from the scorching Middle Eastern deserts to Agrabah in the distance.

There’s even a shot of Jafar’s parrot Iago, flying over an Arabian night before we get a familiar shot from the 1991 original; the entrance to the Cave of Wonders.

However, did you notice a returning star from the classic animated film?

Yes fans are pretty certain that that’s Frank Welker reprising his role as the Cave of Wonders’ voice.

The voice actor also provided animal noises for Aladdin’s monkey Abu and Jasmine’s tiger Rajah in the 1991 film.

The rest of the teaser saw Aladdin being ushered into the Cave of Wonders by Jafar.

Fans are treated to an inside shot, covered in treasure with the lamp high up on a towering pillar.

Then we get the money shot: Aladdin doing an Indiana Jones and reaching for Genie’s lamp.

It’s a decent first trailer, but very much a teaser since the story is barely introduced.

Sadly there was no first look at Will Smith’s Genie, but hopefully he’ll pop up in the next trailer in the next few months.

Meanwhile, Aladdin isn’t the only Disney live-action remake we’ll be getting in 2019. Fans can also look forward to Tim Burton’s Dumbo and Jon Favreau’s The Lion King.

Most recently Lady Gaga has been rumoured for Ursula in The Little Mermaid.

New versions of Lady and the Tramp, Mulan and Lilo and Stitch are also in the works.

Presumably we’ll also be seeing classics like The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan and Hercules get the live-action treatment in the future too.

Aladdin will be released in UK cinemas on May 24, 2019.
