Conor McGregor vs Khabib: Michael Bisping makes UFC 229 prediction

That’s the view of former UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping, who is in Las Vegas for the bout.

McGregor faces Nurmagomedov in his first UFC fight for almost two years with the pair meeting at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night.

Since McGregor’s last fight in 2016, the Irishman has faced Floyd Mayweather in a boxing ring and been stripped of his UFC Lightweight Championship title.

He gets the chance to win that back against the unbeaten Nurmagomedov in a blockbuster encounter.

Nurmagomedov’s last fight saw him earn a unanimous decision victory over Al Iaquinta in April to take his record to 26-0.

But Bisping doesn’t see this one going the full five rounds.

“It’s just one of those fights, every day I change my mind,” Bisping said.

“I don’t know what I’m going to pick tomorrow.

“Somebody’s going to get finished, I know that.”

Iaquinta was a last-minute replacement for his April bout with Khabib having replaced Max Holloway, who himself was set to stand in for Tony Ferguson.

And American Iaquinta has now advised Conor McGregor on the best way to be successful in Sin City on Saturday.

“I wasn’t too prepared for that slow single shot where he dives in, grabs your leg and holds on,” Iaquinta told TMZ Sports.

“Getting your hands in front of him when he shoots that shot, staying a little lower to the ground [is the best way to go].

“You don’t want to be against the cage, by all things necessary keep your back off that cage and stay in the centre.

“He’s been doing it since he was little so it’s just muscle memory at this point.

“He’s got a solid game and it’s going to take a lot of preparation and a good game-plan to beat him.”
