There has been no big announcement from Microsoft on when their next console will be released.

And outside of the tech giant, no one can be sure when the new PlayStation rival will be revealed, or even what it might be called.

Naming it the Xbox Two seems pretty unlikely, while the Project Scarlett codename probably won’t make it onto the final product either.

And it remains a hotly debated topic when the big news on the next-generation releases will be revealed by either company.

New Xbox rumours are rife, even if we might still be years away from the full launch, or a PS4 successor.

But news on the Xbox Two – Project Scarlett – might be dropping much sooner than some fans might have expected.

A new rumour has surfaced that suggests information will be shared about the Xbox Scarlett project later this year.

If recent reports are to be believed, we may know more about the new Xbox console before 2019.

The new information has been shared on the 4Chan message boards, with a user posting supposed details on a new Justice League game being released by Rocksteady.

According to the new leak, the new Justice League game will be a next-generation title, coming to Xbox 2, PS5 and PC.

The poster also insists that news on the next Xbox console will be teased later this year, before a full reveal in 2019.

The post reads: “You’ll hear more details on Xbox’s new system later this year with a full reveal early 2019. PS5 will be announced in early 2019 as well.

“All the heroes are pretty early on in their careers. Batman’s still considered an urban legend to anyone outside of Gotham, Superman isn’t the “world protector” yet, and WW is still on Themyscira. Aquaman’s still in the sea, GL is in space, and Wally isn’t even a hero yet.”

News relating to the next Xbox console would be a massive surprise for many gamers this year, especially those who were ready to wait a while for new information.

Meanwhile, the PS5 release date is expected to be announced for 2020, or even early 2021.

PS4 and Xbox gamers could find out more about next-gen in 2019

So being told more about next-gen Sony and Microsoft consoles in early 2019 would certainly make for exciting reveals.

It should be noted that this information hasn’t been shared by an official source, and should be taken with a big pinch of salt.

There’s no way to corroborate if any of this information is true, or whether it’s being leaked online as a joke.

Rocksteady has been linked to a new DC game project, with many believing it would include Superman.

So a game offering up gameplay from the entire Justice League would be another big announcement for gamers.

And there just so happens to be a new Xbox event on the horizon, which could include the big Xbox 2 reveal

The Xbox X0 conference is being held in November and could be the perfect platform for fans to learn more about the next Xbox console.

Xbox dropped a big hint during E3 2018 that two new consoles could be in the works, and haven’t shied away quite so much as Sony has with sharing details about the PS5.

Xbox executive Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb was forced to issue a statement earlier this year, concerning what many fans thought was a Gamescom hardware hint.

According to Hryb, the initial Xbox blog piece was posted in error, and a new Xbox won’t be shown at Gamescom.

“This was an error on my side,” Hryb tweeted. “I corrected my blog post & noted that it has been updated in the title and the body. Xbox Wire had it accurate. To be clear, we’ve got bundle and accessory news at @gamescom.”

Hinting at a possible reveal of the Xbox Two, the original post promised “all-new Xbox hardware and accessories” for Gamescom.

It was recently revealed that Sony would be stopping production of the PS Vita, as well as ruling out another handheld device.

While it seemed pretty obvious that Sony wasn’t moving toward more portable gaming devices, it still means that the PS5 will be without a sister handheld.

It means that the PS5 will not come in the shape of a Nintendo Switch wannabe, and also means that there won’t any kind of handheld support for the PS5.

Speaking at TGS, Hiroyuki Oda, Sony Interactive Entertainment senior vice president told Famitsu: We currently do not have any plans to announce a new handheld device.

“As for the PlayStation Vita, we will continue its production through 2019 in Japan. Shipment will end.”

It makes sense that Sony would want to put an end to the PS Vita, following a pretty long time on the market.

The system never reached its full potential and was unable to garner the third-party support to push into the next phase of sales.

However, there were always lingering hopes and rumours that Sony might try again, following the success of the Nintendo Switch.

But with the PS5 expected to reach markets by 2020-21, it’s clear it won’t be arriving with a PS Vita 2.
