Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp sent warning over ‘selfish’ Reds stars – EXCLUSIVE

That is according to former QPR and Blackpool manager Ian Holloway.

Liverpool have made a blistering start to the season, winning all six of their games so far.

Last weekend, Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1 but it could have been more had Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah not been so wasteful in the final third.

On the touchline, manager Jurgen Klopp was visibly frustrated by the profligacy by his players.

And club legend John Aldridge accused Salah and Mane of being selfish and trying to score for themselves.

So far this season the trio, who scored 57 Premier League goals between them in 2017/18, has managed eight in five league games.

And Holloway told Express Sport that the Liverpool players need to put aside their personal ambitions to be a success.

Holloway, a pundit for the EFL on Quest highlights, also on QuestOD, said: “It doesn’t matter who scores the most goals.

“A couple of times they could have squared it instead of shooting, I think Mane would tell you that himself.

“You need a horrible streak, you need to think in a selfish way.

“But if your team-mate is in a better position and your team is going to score, you should roll it across to him.

“That’s what winners do. And I don’t think there is enough of them being bred these days.

“Klopp seems to have got a balance. They have been working and improving steadily.”

Meanwhile, Salah, who has not been at his best this season, insists there is no rivalry between them.

“We are friends, we speak a lot,” Salah told France Football Magazine.

“Generally, all three of us sit in the dressing room together, right after matches.

“There is a real solidarity between us, as we do not care who scores the most or first.”
