Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus star reveals Real Madrid concerns amid Sassuolo brace

Ronaldo scored twice as the Bianconeri made it four wins from four in Serie A with a 2-1 triumph against Sassuolo.

“I’m very happy, it was a match played, Sassuolo played well, we have to give merit to us, we were intense, we created many chances,” he said.

“Obviously I’m happy to score my first goals, I was willing,” he said.

The Portuguese star revealed that the lack of goals were starting to play on his mind.

“It’s football, the important thing is for the team to win,” he added.

“Maybe I was a bit anxious, as it is normal, after leaving Madrid and everything that happened, it left me maybe a little more anxious.”

Massimiliano Allegri convinced the board to fork out around £99m to bring Ronaldo to Turin.

Having spent the majority of his career in England and Spain, he has needed a little bit of time to find his feet in Italy.

“Sometimes we do not control our anxiety, but I’m happy, I knew I was working well and the goals were going to come out, I’m still adapting to the Italian league,” he said.

The forward has hit form just at the right time as the club embark on their Champions League campaign in midweek at Valencia.

The Italian champions will be joined in Group H by Manchester United and Young Boys.

Ronaldo said: “We have a very difficult group, start the competition that I like the most, hopefully we will have a lot of luck.”

It’s no wonder he loves the competition when he is the all-time record scorer with 120 goals in 153 appearances.

Earlier this month, Jose Mourinho declared it was never a possibility that United would re-sign Ronaldo.

He will return to Manchester at least for a 90 minute group stage match when the clubs clash in October at Old Trafford.
