LG has truly outdone itself with the LG GC9000 Viewty Smart. Whether you're a fan of the original Viewty or you simply want an attractive, classy phone with a variety of features, the Viewty is sure to satisfy.
Appearance:
At an itty bitty 90g, this phone is light enough and slender enough to fit in any pocket. Do not think that it's flimsy or fragile by any means, however – its sturdy plastic and metallic accents are more than just attractive. It feels solid and strong in the palm, and its three inch TFT sixteen million color touch screen is a definite eye catcher.
LG has designed it for usability in mind. For example, like many of the newer touchscreen phones, this one comes with a motion sensor that automatically deactivates the screen while you make calls or slip it in a pocket, so preventing misdials or other accidents. This has a bad side, however – many users complain that the screen deactivates simply when someone calls, which is more than a little annoying.
The user interface is fairly easy to handle. Most of the features are activated via the touchscreen in LG's typical cube style.
Camera:
The phone's 8 megapixel camera is definitely one of its strong points. Its Schneider Kreuznach optics, LED flash, manual and automatic focus, imagine stabilizer, and more all practically guarantee awesome pictures. While we would have liked to see a Xenon flash, the LED is powerful enough to take pictures in most lighting situations. Also included is a handy Intelligent Design option that helps you to take the best pictures available, which compensates for the weaker flash somewhat. Its shutter speed is also a bit slower than what most prefer.
Its video recording capabilities are top notch as well, with a video editor, TV Output, and video calling features.
Sound:
Music lovers may be a bit disappointed with the sound quality. You get the basics, such as a music player and an FM radio. For some bizarre reason, however, LG thought to include all of these awesome features, but they took away the 3.5 mm headphone jack, which is present in its predecessor.
Internet Connectivity:
When it comes to keeping connected, the Viewty Smart has you covered, with 3G HSDPA, USB, Bluetooth with A2DP, EDGE, GPRS, WLAN Wi-Fi, and quadband technology. You can also enjoy SMS and MMS, a handy email client, a document viewer that covers Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and PDF documents, and a GPS navigation system with AGPS and Google Maps.
Memory and Talk Time:
Combine 1.5 gigabytes with the capability to include memory cards that are as big as 32 gigabytes and you have more than enough memory to conveniently store your goodies. While you have 5.5 hours of talk time and 330 hours standby, it's generally recommended that you charge often if you're going to take advantage of all of the awesome features in this phone.
Conclusion:
The GC900 LG Viewty Smart has a wide variety of sophisticated features that are sure to please. However, its lack of a 3.5 mm headphone jack and somewhat finicky screen may disappoint some users.
