Police are still trying to determine a motive after gunman David Katz opened fire at the Madden NFL Championship tournament at The Landing.

Witnesses have told local media that the 24-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland was a disgruntled gamer who was angry because he lost Sunday’s tournament.

It is unclear if Katz knew his victims.

The Jacksonville Sherif’s office said 11 other people were wounded by gunfire and at least two others were injured while trying to flee.

Police have not named any of the individuals who were injured but local media Action News JAX named three survivors.

Alex Madunic, George Amadeo and Chris McFarland all suffered gunshot wounds.

One had surgye on Sunday and one is due for surgery on Monday, and all three are stabilised.

Another victim Tim Anselimo was indentifed by his mother after saying her son was shot three times.

She then shared an image of her son in hospital with a “thumbs-up” sign to show that he is expected to live.

Police say Katz killed himself and his body was found near the bodies of Mr Robertson and Mr Clayton.

FBI agents and police have swarmed Katz’s townhouse in South Baltimore to look for clues, according to local newspaper the Baltimore Sun. The gunman’s car has also been seized by police.

The shooting happened at a regional qualifying tournament for the Madden 19 tournament.

It was hosted at the GLHF Game Bar inside a pizza restaurant.

The winners of the contest would go forward to the finals in Las Vegas to compete for a grand prize of £128,000 ($165,000).
