Huawei P20 Pro rival? LG looks set to announce new phone with a big camera upgrade

The South Korean tech firm released its V35 and G7 ThinQ smartphones earlier this year and seems braced to improve upon them with the debut of the LG V40.

New renders have emerged of the alleged flagship courtesy of MySmartPrice showing a huge snapper improvement that could challenge other leading manufacturers.

The supposed LG V40 is displayed sporting a triple camera setup on its rear, similar to what is present in the Huawei P20 Pro.

The Chinese flagship’s triple sensor setup is comprised of a main lens, a telephoto lens and a monochrome lens.

The P20 Pro’s telephoto lens allows more clarity to be retained when zooming in while the monochrome sensor is capable to extracting more detail from pictures overall.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

When all three work together, they are capable of producing some incredible snaps, as Express.co.uk noted in our review of the Android device earlier this year.

We said: “Huawei is confident that this is the best smartphone snapper on the market and they might just be right.

“The P20 Pro has so many party tricks up its sleeve even the most amateur of photographers should be able to snap like a pro.

“Huawei’s Leica-branded 40 megapixel camera has really taken us by surprise and it’s almost certainly the best currently on the market for overall features and image quality.”

But LG’s latest flagship could tout similar capabilities when it is released later this year.

The South Korean tech giant are widely-known for the wide-angle lenses present on their smartphones, meaning the V40 could allow users to take very unique shots.

In addition to showing three cameras on its rear, the V40 also has a huge display with very little bezels at the top or bottom.

MySmartPrice insisted the new LG flagship could come with a curved OLED display that will have a notch at the top.

However, as the South Korean tech giant did with its latest G7 ThinQ device, options will most likely be included that will allow users to hide the controversial design choice.

The renders also show the device with two front-facing cameras that MySmartPrice emphasised could allow for enhanced facial recognition.

The report stated the LG V40 could be announced as soon as November 16, meaning fans of the South Korean tech giant’s hardware may not have to wait long to see what the new flagship has in store.
