
Amazon is cutting prices this weekend as the Bank Holiday gets underway.
The online firm has announced its “biggest ever” August Bank Holiday sale event with prices dropping from Wednesday, August 22.
The deals then continue for eight days and will include new ‘Deals of the Day’ available every day throughout the event.
Although most of the price cuts won’t be revealed until later this week Amazon has given a sneak peek at what’s to come with huge savings across many of its own-brand devices including the Echo smart speaker.

These bargains will be available to all customers but, if you have Amazon Prime, you’ll enjoy an exclusive 30-minute early access period to all Lightning Deals.

Amazon’s price cuts come as Google recently announced some major savings on the Google Home and Google Home Mini devices.
This drop means you can currently grab the larger speaker for just £99 (saving £30) and the Mini version for £39 (saving £10).
They are available at these prices until September 4 with stores including Currys PC World, John Lewis and Argos all applying the discount
Both Google’s and Amazon’s devices offer a swathe of features including the ability to turn on lights, find weather reports, make shopping lists and listen to music via voice search.
You can also set reminders, alerts, timers and find out local travel issues by simply asking the speakers for help.
Amazon recently announced a big update for its smart speaker which includes a new equalizer feature.
This upgrade will allow users to customise the way audio sounds from the Echo.
