Games with Gold September 2018 UPDATE: Latest Xbox One free games news

While fans just got access to the full lineup of Games with Gold titles for August, it won’t be that long before we hear more about what will replace them.

Traditionally, Microsoft has announced their free Xbox One games roster before Sony, however, this format has changed a little in recent months.

Gold subscribers have been left waiting a little longer in both June and July, meaning we could see something like that for the Games with Gold September 2018 announcement.

This month has seen Microsoft launch both Forza Horizon 2 and For Honor as part of their free games bonus.

It’s especially important for Forza fans as it’s been confirmed that Forza Horizon 2 is being removed from the marketplace very soon.

Developers Turn 10 has confirmed that the racing game, currently available to download now – will be removed on October 1.

For everyone who already owns the game, it won’t be disappearing near the end of September.

Instead, Microsoft is just retiring the product from their retail lineup, meaning it won’t be available to digitally download from the tech giant.

Something similar happened with the first Forza Horizon, and with a new game coming soon, it may help free up some licensing issues.

For those waiting to see what might replace Forza Horizon 2 next month, it looks like you may be waiting a couple of days.

Microsoft made their last Games with Gold announcement on July 26, which fell in the Penultimate week of July.

So there’s a chance we may find out more free games news for Xbox One on Thursday, August 23.

If the big games news hasn’t dropped by then, fans may have to wait until Monday, August 27, for more information.

There have been no leaks suggesting what could be coming next, so it remains a mystery what Microsoft may include.

For those who don’t know, Games with Gold offers free Xbox games to qualifying Xbox Live Gold members.

The program provides Gold members with free games every month, worth up to $700 per year, according to Microsoft.

Games with Gold is available to all Xbox Live Gold members, which can be redeemed from the Gold widget on the Xbox One home screen.

Titles can also be found if you download the Xbox One SmartGlass app, and go to the Microsoft Store and then page right.

When you select a game, it’ll be stored in your account and ready for download when you sign in to your console.

It should also be noted that new Games with Gold titles become available on the first and the sixteenth day of every month.

The new Games with Gold August 2018 lineup could be announced in the coming days, or, Microsoft may wait until next week before revealing what they have planned.

The current Games with Gold July 2018 lineup of games can be found below:

  • Forza Horizon 2 Standard – 10th Anniversary Edition: Available August 1 to 31 on Xbox One
  • For Honor Standard Edition: Available August 16 to September 15 on Xbox One
  • Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two: Available August 16 to 31 on Xbox One and Xbox 360
