Pokemon Go 2018: New event to release Gen 4 update?

Niantic has provided plenty of new updates for their hit mobile game, Pokemon Go.

Not only can Trainers now become friends with each other and trade gifts and Pokemon, but they can also upgrade their in-game relationship to add raid battle bonuses.

The launch of the new feature was one of the most significant updates for the game to date, and it looks like more big events are being planned in 2018.

According to the latest rumours, Niantic will be launching Pokemon Go Gen 4 later this year.

Supposed leaked information has appeared on Reddit that suggests a new evolution event is coming to the game in August.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

And this new Evolution event will be the way Niantic will start adding new Gen 4 Pokemon to the game.

This would make sense as there are plenty of evolutions to pick from, and would mimic how Niantic have done things in the past.

“Gen 4 evolutions of previous gen pokemon (they mentioned Magmortar, Electrivire and Rhyperior specifically),” the message posted on Reddit explains.

“New evolution items, including elemental stones (not sure about this, they never had fire stone and such, so I’m confused)

“Double XP for evolving and spinning pokestops.”

The new information was posted with a big disclaimer that this is just a rumour for now and should be taken with a big pinch of salt.

“So I’m back with a new leak, after a loooong time. For those who don’t know me, I’m the guy who leaked the Water Festival event and a double XP one,” the original poster adds.

“Seems like the group where I used to get information from wasn’t giving it anymore. But now they are, again. This time, without the full release text (seems like Niantic made sure translators wouldn’t leak stuff anymore), just some vague information.

“Let me tell you, I’m not really sure about it this time, but I want to share to see your opinion anyways.”

It should also be noted that data miners looking for information on these claims confirm that there is nothing in the APK currently to back them up.

Nonetheless, fans will need to keep an eye on what Niantic might announce next for Pokemon Go.

Niantic themselves have promised a few more surprises for this summer, so there’s always a chance they will start the rollout of Gen 4 Pokemon in the near future.

It was recently reported that Pokemon Go has managed to reclaim a lot of lapsed players over the past few months, and Gen 4 would probably be a good way of keeping more players on board.
