Eclipse 2018 India live stream: Watch the Blood Moon live web cam in India

The July full Moon will darken in the night skies over tonight before it takes on a blood-red hue in the wee morning hours.

The first stage of the eclipse will kick off at 10.44pm IST before the Moon hits totality at 1am IST on Saturday, July 28.

The late viewing hours might not be perfect for everyone tonight but the good news is a number of astronomy streaming services are prepared for the eclipse.

You can watch the Blood Moon eclipse tonight from the comfort of your home, courtesy of robotic telescope service Slooh.

The Blood Moon eclipse livestream embedded above will kick off at 10.30pm IST, just minutes before the Moon reaches totality.

The Blood Moon livestream should also work perfectly for people living outside of India, who might otherwise not be within the Moon’s path of totality.

In either case, the Slooh livestream will track the position of the Moon as it moves across the night skies towards the west.

The broadcast will feature guest appearances from Slooh’s resident astronomers who will field questions from the audience and share interesting tidbits about the Moon.

Slooh Storyteller Helen Avery will join astronomers Paul Cox and Dr Paige Godfrey to satisfy your quest for Blood Moon knowledge.

Ahead of the Blood Moon eclipse, Dr Godfrey said: “This is the first total lunar eclipse since the supermoon trilogy that concluded in January 2018 with a lunar eclipse.

“That phenomenon generated massive public interest, and that has hyped up the interest for subsequent events like this one.

“It’s exciting for astronomers to watch the public enjoy these kinds of celestial events.”

The astronomers at Slooh touted the lunar eclipse a “must-see event” because of tonight’s totality.

At one hour and 43 minutes inside the Earth’s darkest shadow, the will be the longest total lunar eclipse of the century.

Slooh teased: “Slooh will be livecasting the entire eclipse from 1pm EDT | 10am PDT | 5pm UTC.

“Its duration will be the longest of this century with the total phase lasting an incredible 103 minutes.

“Our team of experts will be on hand live starting at 1pm EDT to share the fascinating science, ancient lore, and human stories behind lunar eclipses – that most captivating of celestial events – as well as ‘Mini-Moons’.”

In India, the Blood will leave totality by 2.43am IST and head into the final partial eclipse stage.

By 3.49am IST partial eclipsing will end at the last moments of the penumbral eclipse will wrap up at 4.58am IST, making the end of the Blood Moon eclipse tomorrow morning.
