Chelsea transfer news: Daniele Rugani bid revealed by agent – but there is one main issue

Chelsea have so far been relatively quiet in the transfer window with Jorginho and Rob Green their only incomings.

Part of that has been down to the fact Maurizio Sarri’s appointment wasn’t confirmed until two weeks ago, leaving the club little time to chase new signings before the close of the window on August 9.

One player who Sarri has put top of his wishlist is Juventus’ Rugani.

The 23-year-old wants to play more regular football and the new Chelsea boss believes he can come straight into his starting line-up at Stamford Bridge.

And Rugani’s agent, Davide Torchia, has confirmed Chelsea’s interest.

He’s revealed the Blues have already made an offer to sign the centre-back and he says Sarri would be “happy” with the move, but Juventus are reluctant to sell.

“The Blues really like Rugani and have made an important offer,” Torchia said on Italian radio station RadioVS.

“Juve are aware of the interest of Chelsea but for now they don’t want to sell the player.

“We know everything has a price, Rugani is a defender that would make Chelsea’s manager happy and it would be a good investment for Chelsea.

“Rugani wants to play more games because he feels that he has the technical and moral qualities to do a career similar to those of Chiellini and Barzagli.”

Chelsea have also been linked with Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain with Alvaro Morata’s future at the club uncertain.

Blues director Marina Granovskaia was spotted in Milan this week where it was reported she was trying to discuss deals with Juventus for both Rugani and Higuain.
