All parties, aside from the leading PTI, led by former cricketer Imran Khan, are levelling accusations of vote fixing, including reports of election monitors being forced out of polling stations.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan People’s Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement have all alleged problems in the voting process such as polling agents not being allowed into polling stations and voters not being given appropriate forms on time.

PTI’s leader, former cricketer Imran Khan, is expected to win the election by a landslide.

Local television has predicted PTI will win over 100 of the 272 elected seats currently up for grabs.

To form a government without a deal with one of the other parties, they will need to claim a total of 137 seats.

Unofficial results from around a quarter of polling stations suggest the PTI will take 109 seats.

PMLN, the party of ousted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, is in second place with 67 seats, and Pakistan’s People’s Party is predicted to take 39.
