Fortnite Summer Skirmish Day 2 LIVE: Final Week 2 clash for leaderboard results

Epic Games have launched their final day of online competition for their latest eSports competition.

The Fortnite Summer Skirmish will continue over the coming weeks, with day 2 of the current bracket finishing today.

The first day of week 2 action was won by competitor iDropz_bodies, one of a number of players who have been selected to take part in the tournament.

The player’s win came under some scrutiny from fans online, with Epic Games forced to defend the winner and provide answers to those concerned by the accusations.

Here’s a roundup of what Epic Games said, writing on Reddit: “Our internal Summer Skirmish analytics kept track of all opponents which participants eliminated. iDroPz_BoDiEs had 129 eliminations during the event and every single elimination was on a different opponent.

“This is not indicative of him having been intentionally fed eliminations and/or collusion with other players.

“Our analytics events also noted when players left the match prior to the bus deploying and recorded those matches.

“iDroPz_BoDiEs did not join more than the specified 10 matches for the event, the narrative that he was leaving if the server wasn’t full or the bus wasn’t on a favourable path is false.

“Stat tracking sites are unreliable for recording historic performance, as they only update when the website requests stats for a user from the API.

“This makes any ‘Most Eliminations in a Single Match’ records on an account unlikely to be correct, as multiple matches in a time period are combined into one update. iDroPz_BoDiEs has achieved more than 20 eliminations in a match multiple times across his Fortnite career.

“In previous Showdown LTM’s which followed a similar scoring format on public servers, there has been no discernible difference in final score between top performers on PC and Console platforms.

“During this event we saw 11 matches break the 20 elimination mark, with 8 of them on PC and 3 on Console.

“There is no evidence that would suggest to us that iDroPz_BoDiEs played the competition using a mouse and keyboard. Furthermore, we do not restrict input device for players on our platforms in an effort to promote accessibility for our entire audience.”

FORTNITE SUMMER SKIRMISH WEEK 2

Week 2 of the Twitch-streamed tournament is currently ongoing and will have action being played today.

For those that don’t know, the Summer Skirmish series includes a range of new eSports competitions which will consist of top prize money.

The 8-week series we’ll be awarding $8,000,000 in prize money in total, with $1,000,000 up for grabs during week 2, split between both days.

Each time the Fortnite Summer Skirmish is run, Epic Games will change up the format to make it a little more interesting.

The Week 2 format is the highest score wins, meaning plenty of competition for those hoping to grab a slice of the prize money.

The player with the highest score after 10 Solo matches will be named the winner.

Victory Royales and Eliminations in this competition will be scored to determine placement at the end of the event.

The top 20 players at the end of the Week 2 Summer Skirmish will be awarded. Scoring is as follows:

SCORING

  • Victory Royales: +5 Points
  • Eliminations: +1 Point
  • 20 or More Eliminations (per game): +10 Points and $10,000

It should also be noted that the player with the most Eliminations in a Single Game will be awarded: $50,000.

For those who want to sign up, Epic Games have already confirmed that they have a set list of people who have been invited.

So unless you have received a tournament pass from them, there’s no need to inquire how to join the summer event.

It should also be noted that the Fortnite Summer Skirmish is currently ongoing, meaning that the final standings and leaderboards from the Twitch tournament will change.

The Summer Skirmish series started again on Friday and will be running for the second leg of the competition on Saturday, July 21, at 6pm BST.
