Avengers Infinity War directors explain WHERE Hawkeye is – Do fans CARE? Top comments

Poor old Hawkeye.

After rumours that Jeremy Renner was dissatisfied with his minor role in Avengers 1, he was given an entire storyline to himself in Avengers 2. Unfortunately, that involved a completely uninvolving rustic scene with his picture perfect family that did absolutely nothing to make him remotely interesting. Even though he is one of the only characters with a full and functioning personal life, somehow it just reduced his impact even more.

The character has been completely absent from all the trailers and teasers for Avengers 3 so far, including the most recent, which landed earlier today.

An online thread is asking where Hawkeye is and one reply seemed to sum up what many fans feel: “No-one was asking that. Certainly no fan.”

The Russos have finally explained what the amazing archer is up to and it is unlikely to win over any new Hawkeye fans.

Joe Russo told CinemaBlend: “Coming out of Civil War, he’s in the same position that Cap and Falcon are at the end of that movie. And Ant-Man. Coming into this movie, you know… Characters on Cap’s side coming out of the Civil War, some made certain decisions and others made other decisions that led to different paths in them dealing with oversight in this movie in a different way. So Hawkeye’s on his own journey in this movie.”

Anthony Russo aded: “Yeah. He has a unique reaction to the civil war situation that puts him in a special spot in this film.”

Fan comments online have been generally unimpressed so far.

TOP FAN COMMENTS:

“To those wondering where Hawkeye is in the Infinity War trailer: He is a father of several children so he obviously was exhausted and overslept on the day of the big battle. Leave him alone, he’s doing his best.”

“I’m telling y’all no one cares about Hawkeyes whereabouts. They are fighting an intergalactic being what are his little arrows going to do?”

“Looking forward to the Infinity War scene where Hawkeye shows up ready to go and Black Widow is like ‘aw hon, you are absolutely sitting this one out.'”

“You know what would really help defeat this alien monster who has proven resilient to some of our strongest attacks? How about some mundane arrows, yeah that would work great.”

“No-one actually cares where Hawkeye is. People care about continuity. It’s not like anyone was ever seriously clamoring for a Hawkeye movie. And you know you’d be mad if he got too much screen time in Infinity War.”
