James Bond 25: Does THIS prove Danny Boyle will NOT direct Daniel Craig’s final 007 movie?

The 61-year-old director of Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire is rumoured to be at the top of 007 producers’ list to helm Bond 25.

It’s even been reported that to Bond screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

However earlier this week wrote that the Oscar-winning director is working with Richard Curtis on a new musical comedy set in the 1960s or 1970s.

With Universal Pictures wanting to shoot this summer, surely this would mean Boyle passing on Bond 25?

With insiders claiming Boyle will take on the musical comedy, presumably 007 producers would have to push back Bond 25’s November 2019 release date for him.

Of course the more obvious choice would be to go with another director contender like Yann Demange, then Boyle could helm the reboot, Bond 26, with a new Bond actor.

However he might have stiff competition from Christopher Nolan and Denis Villeneuve who are keen to direct Bond one day, but have ruled themselves out for Bond 25.

No doubt a reboot is the most favourable for a filmmaker who can reinvent Bond as they please, as Nolan has said he’d like to do.

The last two Bond reboots were directed by Martin Campbell, who introduced the world to post-Cold War Pierce Brosnan in 1995’s Goldeneye and post-9/11 Daniel Craig with 2006’s Casino Royale.

Both film’s are considered some of the very best films of the entire James Bond franchise. No pressure then.

James Bond 25 is set for release in November 2019.
