Pique was named in Ernesto Valverde’s team for Saturday’s 6-1 romp against Catalan rivals Girona.
Spanish publication Diario Gol claim he was desperate to play in the derby clash.
Pique was eventually replaced by Thomas Vermaelen in the 64th minute but his injury is causing concern.

It is claimed Shakira’s demand is not entirely related to football, however.
The singer is reportedly set to start preparations for her El Dorado world tour and does not want Pique laid up with an injury while he looks after their children, Milan and Sasha.
Pique is expected to miss Thursday’s La Liga clash at Las Palmas and is a doubt for following fixtures against Atletico Madrid and Malaga.
He is expected to be fit to face Chelsea in the Champions League on March 14.
