Storm Polly LATEST: USA set for FOOT of HEAVY SNOW dumped in a ‘few HOURS’

Heavy snow and ice are likely in parts of the Midwest and Plains this weekend as the US is set to see more than 10 inches of snow.

Storm Polly will begin to cross the central Plains, where snow will continue in the southern Rockies while spreading into Nebraska, northwestern Kansas and eventually on to southern South Dakota.

Ice could start to develop, causing dangerous driving conditions which could affect travel over the weekend in parts of the central Plains late Friday from southern Kansas to northern Missouri.

Winter Storm Polly brought as much as six inches of snow to northern Nevada in just two hours.

Parts of the Upper Midwest will experience large amounts of snowfall.

Storms in the west are moving north and by this weekend, the weather will move away from the Plains and into the Midwest and potentially into New England.

Heavy snow is flying across parts of northern Arizona and the central Rockies, including the Salt Lake City as it increases through the evening hours.

Heavy snow will hit northern Arizona on Friday afternoon.

Parts of Arizona has seen as much as five inches of snow so far after four hours fell in just two hours.

Snowfall has also been seen in the higher elevations around Las Vegas.

Winter storm warnings are in effect in parts of the eastern and southern Minnesota, including northwestern Wisconsin.

A huge amount of snow is expected over the weekend in this region and travel is set to be affected and will be dangerous.

Winter storm watches have been issued by the National Weather Service in northwestern Michigan and northern Wisconsin due to the possibility of severe winter driving conditions returning to those regions into Saturday.

Winter weather advisories, which are issued by the National Weather Service when a low-pressure system produces a combination of winter weather, are in effect for portions of the central and northern Plains and the Upper Midwest.

Advisories are also in effect for portions of the Colorado Rockies and the Four Corners region.

On Sunday the storm will move towards Canada during the day but snow will continue from parts of the northern Great Lakes into southern Canada and northern New England.

Snow showers could continue in northern Maine through the early part of Monday.
