Who is Daniel Kaluuya? Get Out and Black Panther star WINS major award at BAFTAs 2018

In an incredible year, he’s also led the cast of Get Out; one of the best films of 2017 – and has picked up an Oscar nod to boot.

Now, at tonight’s BAFTAs, the Londoner won the EE Rising Star Award – the only category voted-for by the public, indicating a huge blossoming fanbase.

So if you’re not already clued-up on the hugely talented 28-year-old, now is the time.

He told the BAFTA audience tonight: “I feel so privileged to be in you guys’ company. I’d like to thank the people for voting for us all.

“I am a product of arts funding within the United Kingdom – I’d like to thank people that financially support that.

“My mum is the reason why I started, the reason why I’m here, and the reason why I keep going. Thank you for everything. This is award is for you.”

Before playing W’Kabi in Black Panther and Chris in Get Out, he had roles in a multitude of films and TV shows, including Special Agent Tucker in Johnny English Reborn, Mo in Chatroom and Reggie in Sicario.

On the small screen, you may recognise him from Skins, when he played the brilliant Posh Kenneth in the first two series. He also wrote three episodes – see a compilation video below.

He was in Psychoville, too, and also popped up in Black Mirror and That Mitchell and Webb Look.

He’s got plenty to keep him busy, too: he’s slated to star in Widows, a heist thriller with Viola Davies, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Enviro and Michelle Rodriguez – due for release in November.

Black Panther, of course, is out now.
