Earlier today Lucasfilm announced a new series of Star Wars films to be helmed by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D B Weiss.
Separate from the Skywalker saga and Rian Johnson’s planned trilogy, fans are already wondering when this series of films will be set.
According to LA Times, Disney boss Iger said they are, “focused on a point in time in the Star Wars mythology and taking it from there.”
While that tease doesn’t give much away, it suggests they will be somewhere already known within the Star Wars canon, rather than something completely new.
Of course that doesn’t really narrow it down, but presumably it will be somewhere between the Old Republic and the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

On getting the Game of Thrones writers on board, Iger added: “Their interest was in creating a series of films that are Star Wars based.
“We’ve actually been talking to them for a long time. To my knowledge they didn’t express interest in creating a [TV] series.”
Last year Iger revealed that Disney and Lucasfilm had plans for Star Wars movies into the 2030s.
He said: ““We’re starting to talk about what could happen after Episode IX.
“About what could be another decade-and-a-half of Star Wars stories.”
