
A blue moon, defined as the second full moon in a calendar month, is looming over the erupting volcano.
It is the first time a blue moon has been seen since July 2015.
And it is also a supermoon, meaning the Earth’s natural satellite will appear 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter in the sky as it reaches its closest point to Earth.
The Mayon volcano is spewing ash over homes and villages across the Philippines island sparking chaos as 75,000 flee the danger zone.
Dramatic images show Mount Mayon sending columns of black ash over communities, forcing tens of thousands of locals to flee their homes and re-locate to overcrowded evacuation centres.

Officials are worried the eruption may last months, disrupting the lives and livelihoods of people in its shadow.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said lava eruptions had been intense but sporadic.
The supermoon has led some to claim the end of days is upon us as it swells in size in skies across the world.
He said: “Are you serious? Are you serious? Put a seat belt on, buckle down, the Super Blue Blood Moon is about to appear.
“We have all of this now as we are getting close to a super blue blood Moon, a lunar eclipse on a super Moon.
“It is a super Moon like we have not had since 1866.
“The Devil’s back has got to be breaking, it’s the birthing pains of the end times.
“We are living in the final days. It’s all about the Super Blue Blood Moon, it is a prophetic sign of the end times.”
However their is currently no evidence of an impending apocalypse to back up his claims.
