Call of Duty update: WW2 DLC hits PS4 servers, Endowment reveals first REFA recipients

A new Call of Duty DLC update has hit PS4 servers, providing new maps to play, including the latest War Mode battle.

COD WW2 DLC 1: The Resistance is now live to play on PS4, although it’s bad news for Xbox One and PC owners.

They’ll be waiting the mandatory month for the DLC to launch on their respective platforms.

The upcoming DLC includes three Resistance themed maps, a brand new War Mode map and another Zombies adventure.

Valkyrie takes place in and around the bunker where resistance fighters unsuccessfully tried to assassinate Hitler.

Anthropoid, meanwhile, is set in Occupied Prague, and is said to feature a lot of height variation and narrow interiors. Occupation is a remake of a Modern Warfare 3 map.

The new War Mode adventure, titled Operation Intercept, is also part of the new DLC.

The first objective will revolve around the rescue of resistance fighters. Players must then capture radio equipment, before leading an attack on the Nazis.

As for Nazi Zombies, the new chapter, titled The Darkest Shore, is described as the most terrifying yet. The new map adds fog to the mix, which should result in a host of scary scenarios.

“The Darkest Shore follows our heroes into the next chapter of their dangerous journey,” reads a Sledgehammer post.

“Only days after the horrific disaster of Mittelburg, the crew has received intel that suggests Doktor Straub is on an island just north of Germany.”

All this new content should be live on PS4 servers, with new update coming as part of Sledgehammer Games’ push to improve the title further.

It follows other big Call of Duty news today that includes The COD Endowment programme.

The Call of Duty Endowment is a non-profit foundation co-founded by Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, which aims to help veterans find high-quality careers by supporting groups that prepare them for the job market.

It was announced as part of the program that the selection of RFEA – The Forces Employment Charity and Walking With The Wounded as the first UK recipients of the Call of Duty Endowment Seal of Distinction, the standard of excellence in the veterans’ employment sector.

Winners each receive a $30,000 unrestricted grant and the opportunity to apply for additional funding, advice, and support.

“Meaningful employment is the single most important way to ensure that service members successfully transition back to civilian life,” said Dan Goldenberg, Executive Director of the Call of Duty Endowment.

“The Seal of Distinction recognises RFEA – The Forces Employment Charity and Walking With The Wounded as go-to organisations for veterans seeking high-quality jobs, and models for veteran-serving organisations to emulate.”

Funding for Endowment programmes is made possible, in part, via the sale of The Call of Duty: WWII – Call of Duty Endowment (C.O.D.E.) Bravery Pack available digitally on (PS4/XboxOne/PC).

The digital pack includes a special Call of Duty Endowment in-game helmet, calling card, and emblem.

All proceeds received by Activision, as a result of sales of these digital items to UK consumers, will go towards Endowment programmes.
