Man Utd star Alexis Sanchez had Romelu Lukaku chat with Jose Mourinho after Arsenal move

Manchester United have landed Sanchez from Arsenal in the most surprising deal of the January transfer window so far.

Where the Chile international will fit in, however, is a question that many fans, pundits and former professionals are struggling to answer.

Yet the Manchester Evening News claim Sanchez will have talked with Mourinho about the 54-year-old’s plans for him – with Romelu Lukaku supposedly mentioned as well.

Lukaku was signed to be the spearhead of Manchester United’s attack back in the summer, with the Red Devils gazumping Chelsea to land the forward from Everton for a huge £75million.

Yet with just six goals from 27 games, his form has tailed off.

Lukaku’s place in the squad has been called into question with many United fans desperate for Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial to be given the nod up front.

Sanchez, who played there for Arsenal last season, is another option.

MEN report the 29-year-old talked with Mourinho where he was told the team would be built to suit his strengths.

And Sanchez was also told that his arrival is expected to ease the burden on Lukaku in the process.

However, his arrival could yet impact several players.

Popular figures Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata may now struggle for game time with the World Cup in Russia looming large.

Rashford is expected to fall further down the pecking order with the 20-year-old already behind Martial.

Mata, meanwhile, may be allowed to leave in the summer for free with the Red Devils yet to give him a new contract.
