California torture family: Turpins denied children toys – but had HUGE kids DVD collection

Forensic experts searching the home of David and Louise Turpin have unearthed a perfectly alphabetised DVD collection that includes Casper, Cars and Everybody Loves Raymond, despite reports they denied their children toys.

Mr Turpin, 57, and his 49-year-old wife could be sent down for 94 years if they are convicted of torture, false imprisonment, neglect and abuse.

Authorities are said to have found their 13 kids had been “starved, tied up with chains and shackled for months”.

It is alleged that the “only thing they were allowed to do” was write in journals – hundreds of which are said to have ben recovered on Sunday.

Despite allegations of subjecting thier family to horrific abuse, The Turpin parents appear to be obsessed with all-things Disney.

The alleged torturers owned Disney-themed statues, car registration plates, and had taken their children to Disneyland on several occasions.

Their extensive DVD collection includes the Disney classic Dumbo, as well as comedies including Dukes of Hazard, Golden Girls, Election, ET and Erin Brockovich.

The Turpins also appear to be big Elvis fans, with a 68 Comeback DVD in their collection, and having renewed their vows at an Elvis-themed chapel in Las Vegas on more than one occasion.

Cops searched the Turpin home after their 17-year-old daughter escaped the property and alerted them to the horrific treatment they were being subjected to, it is alleged.

The officers are said to have discovered three of her brothers and sisters shackled to their beds with chains and padlocks.

Their siblings are said to have been sat nearby in dark and foul-smelling surroundings.

The Turpins’ children, aged between 2 and 29, were said to be “malnourished and dirty”.

Disturbing details of how they allegedly tortured their 13 kids were described at a police press conference by DA Michael Hestrin.

He alleged that they were made to stay up all night and sleep during the day in a suspected attempt to avoid neighbours realising what was going on.

The children are said to have been plotting to escape for more than two years.

When the 17-year-old alerted cops on Sunday she is said to have at first had another sibling with her who got frightened and turned back.

It is alleged that some of the children did not know what a police officer was and many are mentally impaired because of what prosecutors have described as “severe, prolonged and pervasive” abuse.

DA Hestrin said the abuse began in 2010 and worsened over the years.
