The 19-time Grand Slam champion, who turned 36 this year, is so often seen smiling as he picks up trophies around the globe.
But he swapped silverwave for a pair of dodgy Christmas glasses for a fun ATP promotional video this month.
Federer joined Novak Djokovic and John Isner in getting in the festive spirt as they wished tennis fans a merry Christmas.
In the video, Federer is seen pulling on a Christmas cracker where he experiences the rare feat of losing. “I’ve got nothing!” he laughed as he ended with the wrong end.
Although he was then given the cracker which he rushed to reveal its contents.
Asked where he spend Christmas this year, Federer replied: “With the family. We’ll spend it together and have a lovely time.”
For Djokovic it was a more vociferous occasion. Arm in arm with new coach Radek Stepanek, the pair launched into a heart rendition of ‘we wish you a merry Christmas’ as they swayed to the beat.
The new double act then blew a syncronised kiss to the camera.
Grigor Dimitrov, meanwhile, looks reluctant to get involved – ditching any props and merely laughing in the video.
The last word in the two-minute promo was left to the Swiss legend.
Still donning his Christmas specs, Federer beamed: “Merry Christmas, everybody!”
