Luis Suarez sends Philippe Coutinho a crafty Christmas gift – Liverpool won’t be happy

The Barcelona forward took part in the ‘Invisible Friend’ event organised by Neymar and sent a present to his former Liverpool team-mate.

And with Coutinho hoping to team up with Suarez again there was an element of suspicion as to what Suarez might send his way.

And when Coutinho unwrapped his present he did so with a laugh and an expletive.

“What the f*ck!” He said. 

Suarez had sent him a bottle of vodka… Which is unlikely to go down well with Jurgen Klopp – particularly with the revelation that he likes to drink.

“Now I’m going to reveal my secret friend, it’s my little brother, Philippe Coutinho,” Suarez explained. 

“Well, Philippe, my secret friend was me and from Barcelona I send you a gift that I know you’ll like a lot, because you like it a lot and I know you’re going to remember the good times that we have and that we live.”

And Coutinho explained he used to drink with Suarez’ wife when they were both at Liverpool.

“When Luis was here his wife liked to take it and so did I,” he said. “I thank you.”

Coutinho is keen to join Barcelona next month after seeing a dream move blocked in the summer.

Barca made three offers for the Brazil star and are set to make an approach in January.

However Liverpool are desperate for him to stay until the summer despite knowing he wants out.

Coutinho would not be eligible to play in the Champions League for Barca if he did move but Ernesto Valverde wants him for the domestic charge.

Barcelona currently top La Liga by six points going into El Clasico.

Rivals Real Madrid are down in fourth – 11 points back – but do have a game in hand.
