Time to go

Ivan, an artist and record company owner, gives us a tour of his sound setup for CNET’s Show Us Yours series. This tour has been put together by Steve Guttenberg, CNET’s Audiophiliac columnist.

Here’s Ivan right after he played Radetzky’s “Loops Live By Atom” LP of absolutely mesmerizing electronic music. Ivan is an artist, but he also owns Hueso Records, an adventurous record company.

Brilliant light from outside filled Ivan’s room during my visit, creating a really inviting place to be. Ivan is from Chile and he played some of his company’s releases on LP, but the music can also be streamed on Spotify and Tidal. Ivan has music systems throughout his home, and he is passionate about the sound of music.

While most audiophiles have most of their gear out in the open, Ivan’s components are stashed away in a closet right off the living room.

Here we have an all-tube, made in Japan integrated amplifier.

The system’s primary music source is this (made in New Jersey) VPI Classic turntable.

To hear vinyl at its best LPs must be clean, so Ivan bought this high-end record cleaning machine.

These small bookshelf speakers serve double duty, they are Ivan’s stereo speakers for his audiophile music system, but also the main speakers for his home theater system.

There’s music in every room: here’s the Gemsound BJL-1150 turntable, Prima Luna Prologue Two tube power amp, NAD radio and Polk speakers in the kitchen.

Ivan really does love all kinds of music, this is collection of music from Africa, Trinidad, the US, experimental and spoken word. And there’s a lot more vinyl stashed around Ivan’s home.

Ivan grew up in Chile listening to The Beatles, folk music, Chilean punk and all types of underground music on cassette tapes.

There are a few video components in Ivan’s system.

With a projection screen and Epson EMP TW720 projector, Ivan and his family watch movies in the living room.

There’s a lot of art in Ivan’s home.

Ivan is especially proud of these made in Chile speakers that use a ribbon midrange driver. They are prototypes, not production speakers.

The simplicity of the Beta amp is appealing, again, not a production design.

In the basement music room.

Ivan’s son plays drums

Ivan likes to throw parties in his home, and uses this turntable, PS1 Gemini mixer, Samson amplifier, and JBL speakers.

The Tascam is used in the basement music room.

Hats and UK music, from the 1960s to 1990s.

Thanks for checking out this installment of Show Us Yours. If you want to see more, we have plenty to look at here.
