Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah receives incredible endorsement from football legend Pele

Salah has enjoyed an incredible start to life at Anfield since his summer move from Roma.

He currently leads the Premier League goalscoring charts with 13 in just 17 matches.

And his exploits on Merseyside have also been repeated for his country as he scored a last-gasp spot-kick in Egypt’s match against Congo in October to send them to next year’s World Cup.

Salah’s astronomical rise led to him being named the Africa Player of the Year award earlier this week, ahead of fellow Liverpool star Sadio Mane.

His performances have garnered praise from some of football’s greatest stars and his advocate is arguably the greatest player in the history of the game.

Pele, who won three World Cups with Brazil, stated he can’t wait to see what Salah has to offer when he represents Egypt in Russia next year.

He tweeted: “Parabens (congratulations), @22MoSalah!

“It’s been an incredible year! Keep going and I look forward to seeing you play on the greatest stage next year – the World Cup.”

Diego Maradona has also come out in support of Salah’s performances this season and has been impressed at his goalscoring exploits.

“Salah is a brilliant player who can move right and left, and he can score goals using his leg as well as his head,” Maradona said in October.
