Turkish President Recep Erdogan warned: “Jerusalem is a red line for Muslims. We could go as far as cutting diplomatic ties with Israel over the issue.”
White House officials last week said President Trump will today recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city, a controversial move critics fear could threaten peace in the Middle East.
Jordan’s King Abdullah warned the decision would have “dangerous repercussions on security and stability.”
Mr Trump was yesterday calling leaders in the region to discuss his plan.
The city’s holy sites in East Jerusalem are sacred to Christians, Jews and Muslims and both Israel and Palestine claim it as their capital.

One woman claimed she was sexually assaulted by Moore, who says it is a witch-hunt against him.
But the President telephoned the candidate, who is hoping to win the seat vacated by US attorney general Jeff Sessions in Alabama, and told him: “Go get ’em, Roy.”
In another development, Robert Mueller, the special prosecutor investigating links between the White House and Russia during last year’s Presidential election, has issued a legal writ to Germany’s Deutsche Bank demanding data on financial transactions linked to the US President.
