Arsenal news: Perry Groves picks two players who stood out in Burnley win

Arsenal picked up a valuable 1-0 win at Turf Moor thanks to a stoppage time penalty from Alexis Sanchez.

Victory takes the Gunners above north London rivals Tottenham and Liverpool into fourth place in the Premier League table.

Groves was impressed with Arsenal’s desire to win the game but particularly the performances of midfielder Xhaka and centre-back Mustafi.

“No, not really (an easy game to judge),” Groves said on Arsenal Player.

“Again Mustafi probably, he didn’t put a foot wrong.

“I think his decision making was good, he gave one or two fouls in the second half where you think ‘just stand up, don’t get yourself involved in it.

“Quietly I think Granit Xhaka was okay. He didn’t give the ball away as much as he has done in the past, he didn’t commit many fouls.

“What people have to understand is Burnley make you battle, they make you fight, they make you scrap.

“You have to have that belief and drive that ‘right, we’re not at our free-flowing best but we still tried and again testament to us as well, because at half-time he said ‘we’ve got to step this up a little bit’ which we did.

“We kept driving, we didn’t settle for the 0-0, we didn’t settle for the draw.”

Arsenal‘s next outing is against Huddersfield on Wednesday at the Emirates.
