Pokemon Go news: HUGE Niantic reveal, Raids get MAJOR update, New feature coming soon

Pokemon Go developer Niantic has given the Raid bosses a big refresh.

For the first time since the feature launched this summer, Pokemon Go Raid bosses have been completely updated.

Tier one Raids now include Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Wartortle and Metapod, while Tier two bosses include the likes of Magneton, Cloyster, Tentacruel and Sandslash.0

Sableye and Marowak also join the roster of Raids, despite featuring heavily in the recent Halloween 2017 event.

Porygon, Snorlax, Golem and Lapras make appearances as higher tier bosses, as well as Ninetales, Scyther and Poliwrath.

And speaking of Raids,  developer Niantic is laying the foundations for the game’s next big update.

The Pokemon Go studio recently purchased start-up social media platform Evertoon.

Evertoon lets users create 3D animated movies using avatars, gestures and emojis. These short films can then be shared to the likes of YouTube and Facebook.

The Niantic acquisition means that Evertoon technology will soon be used in Niantic games such as Pokemon Go and Ingress.

“Today we’d like to share with you that Niantic has acquired the Evertoon team,” reads an Evertoon blog post.

“We will be adding a social platform to Niantic’s amazing roster of games, including Pokemon GO, Ingress, and future titles.”

The Evertoon acquisition should make it easier for fans to organise Raids. Likewise, the communication features would also benefit Pokemon Go trading and PvP.

The acquisition of Evertoon could also be used for avatars in Niantic’s brand new Harry Potter game.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is an upcoming AR game being co-developed by Warner Bros Interactive and Portkey Games.

“We’re incredibly excited to announce this next step in the evolution of AR mobile entertainment,” Niantic revealed.

“With Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players that have been dreaming of becoming real life Wizards will finally get the chance to experience J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.

“Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighbourhoods and cities to discover and fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies.”

Due out in 2018, the game appears to share similarities with Pokemon Go, as players discover beasts in the real world.
