Red Bull can beat Lewis Hamilton and co in final grands prix – Horner

Lewis Hamilton won his fourth Drivers’ Championship last time out in Mexico despite finishing ninth.

The Mercedes has been superior all season but Ferrari and Red Bull have proved capable of edging Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas during the campaign.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen claimed the third race victory of his career in Mexico City.

And only a power unit failure prevented Daniel Ricciardo from challenging for another podium spot.

Red Bull’s resurgence in the latter half of the season has certainly caught the eye.

And team boss Horner reckons his two drivers can compete in Brazil and Abu Dhabi before the season is out.

“Yes. Subject to penalties,” he told Motorsport.com when asked if Red Bull have it in them to win the last two races.

“The last four races we have had the quickest car on a Sunday.

“Hopefully Brazil can be a good track for us, and why not Abu Dhabi?

“It would be great to finish the season with at least one more victory.”

Horner also expects Ricciardo’s car to be fully functioning at Interlagos.

“I think we have to go through all the bits and work out what we have got left and what we haven’t,” said Horner.

“I haven’t sat down with the guys to go through it in detail but I hope that we might have something.”
