Meghan Markle and Prince Harry: Actress “always knew she would be successful” friend says

Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, has faced intense scrutiny since their relationship became public knowledge last year.

But the couple have coped well with the pressure, making their first official public appearance together at the Invictus Games in Toronto in October.

The ITV show, ‘Prince Harry and Meghan: Truly, Madly, Deeply‘, charted Meghan’s youth and acting career, as well as looking at her humanitarian work.

Royal historian David Starkey then considered how the American actress might fit into the British Royal Family.

A friend of the actress, Abby Wathen, starred with Meghan in film Random Encounters.

Speaking about Meghan, Abby revealed her steely ambition, and said: “We became instant friends. She always knew she would be successful, she just…knew it.

“She told me that she had booked for a pilot for immediately after Random Encounters ended.” This pilot went on to be hit TV show Suits.

The duo bonded over something else too. Abby said: “Meghan and I bonded because I was married and she was getting married. I was invited to her wedding but I couldn’t go. Then we both went through divorce, so we bonded on that too.

“Meghan isn’t one of these people that dwells on…I was destroyed, but she was empowered. She took her power back. It wasn’t the right relationship for her, so she moved on.”

Meghan’s sister also revealed insight into her personality, and the upbringing she had.

Samantha Markle, Meghan’s half-sister, said: “My father married her mother. It was like a gift when Meghan was born because she was so full of life and personality.

“She was always giggling and around the holidays it was wonderful. In our minds it was a beautiful inter-racial family.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were revealed to have some parallels in their childhood.

Both Harry and Meghan watched their parents divorce, and both enjoyed the luxury of a private education.

Discussing how the divorce affected Meghan, Samantha said: “I don’t think Meghan ever really noticed there were two households. I don’t think she felt a separation.”

She also talked about Meghan’s budding interest in acting, and said: “We were a very animated family, by the time she was 6 or 7 she was involved in an acting studio in Hollywood. From early on, Meghan was a handful of characters busting to get out.”
