Star Wars 8 The Last Jedi: NEW LOOK at Luke Skywalker – Is THAT the Journal of the Whills?

Yesterday saw the release of a brand new behind-the-scenes video looking at Star Wars The Last Jedi.

As part of their exclusive, USA Today has also revealed a new picture of Luke inside the Force tree on Ahch-To.

The shot shows the Jedi Master with his hand over a book next to a small library. one last seen the previous two trailers.

With the Force tree rumoured to be the first Jedi temple, fans have been wondering if the book he’s looking at is the Journal of the Whills. But what is it?

The Journal of the Whills is a journal recording events across the galaxy and it references the Jedi.

The novelisation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens with a quotation from the book.

It reads: “First comes the day, then comes the night. After the darkness, shines through the light. The difference, they say, is only made right by the resolving of grey through refined Jedi sight.”

The poem seems to allude to an in-between – “the resolving of grey” – suggesting Luke could be the Grey Jedi.

This would certainly tie in with him appearing on both the Light and Dark Side IMAX posters for The Last Jedi.

Star Wars 8 The Last Jedi will be released in UK cinemas on December 14, 2017.
