Nintendo Switch games shock as major rival reveals console crossover news

New Nintendo Switch games are in the works and it appears that even more publishers are set to get in on the act.

Third-party support has been a problem for Nintendo in the past, with the Wii U a prime example of what impact a lack of outside development can have on a console’s fortunes.

But the same fate doesn’t appear in the making for the Nintendo Switch.

There were fears that the hybrid console could share the same fate, however, more third-party announcements and a growing sales record appear to have put them to rest.

Today also saw a rather surprising announcement that may have shocked gaming fans.

It has been revealed that Sony – currently dominating the market with their PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles – has setup a new game publishing label that will include Switch and PC.

On the surface this would seem like a major announcement that could bring some major titles to the Switch.

However, it should be noted that the new label has been filed under Sony Music Entertainment.

Unties, is a separate entity from Sony Interactive Entertainment and will not be including any of the hits that is associated with it.

Instead, Unties will be investing in Indie games that will not be limited by platform support.

The Sony division will be handling PR and sales for all titles across each of the platforms, with some games already announced.

“Outfight the enemy with your own army of foot soldiers, tanks, helicopters, tactical vehicles, and fighter jets.

The first game launching under the Unties label will be Tiny Metal, coming to PS4, Switch, and PC on November 21.

Unties mission is to “unearth high-quality titles” and is responding to the “indie game movement centered around North America, continuing to draw attention even within Japan.”

And Tiny Metal is a great example of this, which has been dubbed the “revival of Japanese Arcade Wargaming.”

“Capture rival territories and extend your military power over the sprawling map of Zipang. Follow the gripping story of Nathan Gries and answer for yourself what is, and what isn’t, worth fighting for.

“Arriving Autumn 2017 for Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation 4, Windows, and Mac OSX. Developed by AREA35.”

There’s also other games already announced to be featured under the Unties label, including robot battler Last Standard, Merkava Avalanche, and VR remaster, Deemo.

As mentioned above, Sony Music Entertainment, while tied to the Sony brand, almost has no interaction with PlayStation, which will continue to focus exclusively on its range of gaming devices.
