Liverpool legend John Aldridge believes his former club are vulnerable in defence after failing to land Virgil van Dijk.
The Anfield outfit have already conceded nine goals in just five Premier League games.
And Aldridge, who scored 63 Reds goals in just 104 games, told the Liverpool Echo it’s time for Klopp to shore things up at the back.
“Managers live and die by their decisions,” Aldridge said.
“There was some anger from the fans after Saturday [1-1 draw against Burnley] and I think it was because the supporters have seen it all before.

“They saw us giving points away at Watford and again on Saturday, while other teams are banging them in, and they’re thinking ‘this should have been sorted’.
“They know they probably need two centre-backs, not one, over the coming 12 months unless Joe Gomez goes in there and is given a chance. We’re struggling centre-half wise.”
Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan have yet to prove a convincing pairing for most Liverpool fans.
While Klopp made it clear he wanted to sign Southampton centre back van Dijk over the Summer.
But Saints threatened to report them to the FA for making an illegal approach for the Dutch defender – and the move never materialised.
Aldridge believes it’s leadership such as that which Van Dijk provides his club that the Reds are badly missing.
“Everybody knows we’ve got no leaders at the back and I think that’s where the frustrations are coming out for the fans,” he continued.
“Then you’ve got the full-back situation, it’s a unit, you’ve all got to be on a level and communicate.”
Klopp’s men have kept just two clean sheets this season. They now face back-to-back fixtures away to Leicester in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, and the Premier League on Saturday evening.
