In 2015’s The Force Awakens, Lor San Tekka was seen giving Poe Dameron a map to help locate Luke, played by Mark Hamill.
That map, of course, ultimately enabled Rey to track him down at the end of the film, with their meeting on Ahch-To set to begin Episode 8: The Last Jedi.
Now, an official description that has popped up on Reddit appears to confirm that it was Luke himself who gave Lor San Tekka the map.
Which begs the question: did he want Rey to find him?
The blurb reads: “When Luke Skywalker goes into hiding, he gives Lor San Tekka a map fragment showing his destination.”

One commenter on the social networking site speculated that “maybe that he wanted LST to eventually give it to Rey? Wild speculation here but why else would he be on Jakku?”
Someone else replied: “It makes perfect sense, especially with the “mirroring” between [The Force Awakens] and [A New Hope]. I’d just never heard it put in that simple of terms.”
Does this change any theories about possible knowledge Luke had of Rey prior to their meeting? Speculation will rage on until the film lands in cinemas.
