North Korea has warned ‘nuclear war may break out’ in a threat to the USA

issued a warning in a Pyongyang-based propaganda paper this week, in which the state declared US troops would be “driven out” of the Korean peninsula. 

‘s hermit state audaciously claimed it is actually the US, rather than North Korea, who are ratcheting up tensions in East Asia – despite Pyongyang carrying out an increasing number of provocative missile launches and nuclear tests.

The article, entitled ‘End Should Be Put to US Military Presence in South Korea’, went to far as to claim the presence of US troops in South Korea was the only thing holding back “peace on the peninsula”.

The newspaper Rodong Sinmun, which is state-run and acts as a mouthpiece for the bloody three-generation Kim dynasty, said Washington’s decision to station troops in South Korea was “the root cause of all kinds of misfortunes and pains”. 

Branding the US, North Korea’s “sworn enemy” the North Korean propaganda machine was in full force as tensions on the peninsula reach breaking point. 

The article said: “The constant tension on the Korean peninsula is entirely attributable to the US imperialists’ presence in South Korea and their policy for aggression.

“What the US has done since its military occupation of South Korea is threatening peace on the Korean peninsula and increasing the danger of a war.

“The US military presence in South Korea has become the main source of wrecking peace and stability in the peninsula and Northeast Asia.”

They rejected claims the US was merely protecting the south and said their presence actually increased the danger of all-out conflict. 

The article continued: “The tense situation, in which a nuclear war may break out, is constantly prevailing in the peninsula due to the ceaseless nuclear war drills staged by the US in South Korea.

“History and reality go to clearly prove that the US imperialists are the sworn enemy of the Korean nation as they have inflicted immeasurable disaster on it and persistently blocked the peace and independent reunification of Korea.”

And they claimed America would happily spark the “second Korean War”, with the original still technically ongoing as all sides have only signed a ceasefire when the fighting ended during the 1950s. 

The opinion piece concluded: “No one can vouch that the US, obsessed with the ambition to invade the north, would not ignite the second Korean war any moment.

“A main key to ensuring detente and peace on the peninsula is to drive the US forces out of South Korea.”

It comes as A North Korean state agency threatened to use nuclear weapons to “sink” Japan and reduce the US to “ashes and darkness” for supporting a UN Security Council resolution and sanctions over its latest nuclear test.

The Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, which handles the North’s external ties and propaganda, also called for the breakup of the Security Council, which it called “a tool of evil” made up of “money-bribed” countries that move at the order of the US. 

The 15-member Security Council voted unanimously on a US-drafted resolution and a new round of sanctions on Monday in response, banning North Korea’s textile exports that are the second largest only to coal and mineral, and capping fuel supplies.

North Korea reacted to the latest action by the Security Council, which had the backing of veto-holding China and Russia, by reiterating threats to destroy the United States, Japan and South Korea.
