Star Wars 9: Justice League and Batman v Superman writer replaces Harry Potter scribe

The latter, who penned Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Oscar-winning Argo, was mentioned in today’s statement announcing Abrams as the replacement director on Episode IX.

Terrio will be penning the sequel trilogy’s finale with Abrams – but why was Thorne left out?

It’s not clear at this stage if the Harry Potter play writer was fired or had just done part of the work on the script.

After all The Force Awakens was originally given to Toy Story 3’s Michael Arndt, before Abrams and Star Wars original trilogy’s Lawrence Kasdan took over.

It’s rumoured that Trevorrow, who was set to direct Episode IX, was dismissed after not providing a satisfactory script.

Perhaps now Abrams and Terrio will be starting from scratch?

: Episode IX will be released in UK cinemas on June 21, 2019.
