Land Rover has announced a new addition to the Discovery range, the SVX SUV, at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017.
It will sit alongside the SVR and SVAutobiography in the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) portfolio.

“Customers love the Discovery’s versatility and capability and we are delighted to offer UK customers even more choice with the addition of the Si4 300hp engine.”
Jaguar Land Rover is offering the new SVX exclusively with a 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 petrol powertrain which delivers 525PS and 625Nm of torque.

It is the first Jaguar Land Rover model to feature Hydraulic Active Roll Control which improves body control and off-road traction.
SVX also benefits from improves approach and angles while offload thanks to the raised lightweight aluminium monocoque architecture and new air-suspension system.
New Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tyres and forges aluminium alloy wheels have been fitted to improve off-road traction too.
A number of the Discovery’s Dynamic driving systems have been included on the SVX including optimised Terrain Response 2, Hill Descent Control, Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Adaptive Dynamics, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) and variable ratio Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS).

On the production version of the Discovery SVX a number of style tweaks have been added to distinguish it from the standard Discovery and emphasise its off-road character.
Most notably is the new bumper with large aluminium skid plates that have been fitted and the orange accents which can be found across the car’s body.
Two LED strip lights have also been added above the windscreen to presumably improve visibility in the dark and new roof bars have been added to improve practicality.

Inside the car the Discovery gains a new 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display instrument cluster and 10-inch touchscreen interface on the centre console.
The system now has 4G Wifi included on SE and above trim levels.
Discovery SVX will be hand-assembled by expert craftsmen at the SVO Technical Centre in the UK when production begins in 2018.
