The German Chancellor appeared with rival Martin Schulz, leader of the sPd, in a live televised debated ahead of Germany’s election on Septemebr 24.
Touching on immigration and Turkey’s accession to the European Union, Mrs Merkel also used the opportunity to allign herself with the US President and the West following North Korea’s terrifying hydrogen bomb launch last night.
Mrs Merkel said: “Indeed there are many worries, especially also regarding the Korea question and the aggression of the North Korean dictator.
“I don’t think that we can solve the conflict without the American president.
“But we have to clearly say for us there can only a peaceful diplomatic solution”
