Samsung Galaxy Note 8 could be followed up by Galaxy S9 just a few months later

Samsung are gearing up for the big Galaxy Note 8 release date, and could follow that up by launching the Galaxy S9 just a few months later at the start of 2018.

The South Korean tech giant are reportedly ready to kick next year off on a flying note by bringing the Galaxy S9 release date forward.

Samsung will allegedly launch the Galaxy S9 in January, before a release date for the upcoming Android phone in February.

It would mean the Galaxy S9 would launch and have a release date two months earlier than the Galaxy S8 and S8+ did.

The Galaxy S8 series was revealed in March before sales were opened in April.

The reports from South Korea were revealed by Android Authority, and is based on production line murmurs.

It’s rumoured that Samsung Display will start shipping OLED panels for the Galaxy S9 in November.

This is usually two to three months before assembly of the device is expected to begin.

For example, displays for the Galaxy S8 were supplied in January before the smartphones were announced two months later.

The news comes after an alleged spec sheet for the Samsung Galaxy S9 surfaced.

According to the reports, the phone will sport a Snapdragon 845 processor by Qualcomm, in addition to 4GB of RAM as standard and run Android Oreo.

It’s also possible the Galaxy S9 could come with a 6GB RAM variant and follow in the Note 8’s footsteps to have a dual camera setup.

While these reports are just rumours, an earlier release date for the Galaxy S9 could benefit Samsung.

A number of flagship smartphones are typically announced by major electronics firms at MWC in Barcelona.

This usually takes place in February or March.

If the reports from South Korean media turn out to be true, it would mean the Galaxy S9 could be on the market by the time MWC rolls around.

That would mean consumers would have a great Android phone on offer to buy before they know what Samsung’s competitors are launching.

The Galaxy S8 has enjoyed bumper sales, with it reportedly selling over 20million units between its launch in April and at some point in July.

That is around 15 per cent higher than the Galaxy S7 series sold during the same period.

At the end of August Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 8 to the world at a big event in New York.

The phablet features a new 6.3-inch Infinity Display, a refreshed S Pen and a dual-lens camera set-up.

It will launch on September 15, with the 64GB version costing £869 in the UK.
