Manchester United completed four summer signings – Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all penning deals with the Red Devils.
Jose Mourinho has not been afraid to splash the cash since his arrival with his biggest signing to date being Paul Pogba’s £89million arrival from Juventus last summer.
The Portuguese boss has also managed to secure big-money fees for Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin during his tenure at Old Trafford.
And Manchester United legend Neville feels Mourinho has taken United a long way since their struggles under predecessor Louis van Gaal.
“What I would say about United is that a couple of seasons ago you could be immensely critical of United’s transfer policy being all over the place,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“What I’ve seen in this last 12 months is the players that have signed in my mind, Pogba, [Eric] Bailly, Matic, Lukaku, they fit the profile of a United player – the strength, the personality, the character.
“I’m a lot happier from a United point of view as a fan that the club seems to be back on track and Jose’s had a big part to play in that because he does do well in the transfer market.
“He does do well in the transfer market, he did well at Chelsea as well.
“Even the shifting out of Depay and Schneiderlin last January for £45m was business that United haven’t done in the past.”
