Melania Trump, 47, headed to Texas yesterday to support relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
But rather than focusing on the First Lady’s efforts, many criticised her for her outfit.
She stepped out in a green bomber jacket, stylish aviator sunglasses, and a pair of black six inch court shoes.
The shoes, by designer Manolo Blahnik, caught the eye of critics who were quick to lay into the First Lady on Twitter.
One user wrote: “Dear Melania,. 9 inch spike heels aren’t the best for working soup lines or rescuing folks. Oh yeah, y’all just Rubber Necking. Disgusting.”

Another said: “Melania is wearing stilettos to Texas to tour areas affected by Harvey. How out of touch can you be to walk damage in those?!?”
One fumed: “And here we have Melania Trump modeling what NOT to wear to a hurricane: 5-inch stilettos. How out of touch can you be?”
Another noted: “Melania….. sweetie… ppl are dying and ur watching them in Manolos and a bomber jacket.” (sic)
And one pointed out: “I wouldn’t normally comment on Melania’s shoes but I’m not sure if this is what you wear to go meet ppl who’ve lost all of their belongings.”
Melania did change into a pair of Adidas Stan Smith trainers while on the plane to Texas, so she was not actually wearing the heels when meeting disaster victims or viewing the flood damage.
And the White House have hit back at criticism, branding it “sad”.
In an email to Fox News, Stephanie Grisham, said: “It’s sad that we have an active and ongoing natural disaster in Texas, and people are worried about her shoes.”
This is not the first time Melania’s footwear has been the focus for negative attention.
An article published in Newsweek in August attacked the First Lady and First Daughter for their shoe choices.
The piece was titled ‘Melania and Ivanka Trump Wear High Heels, A Symbol Of Everything That Is Beautiful and Horrifying About Them’ and stated that despite high heels being out of fashion, the Trump women still wear them.
Nina Burleigh, its author, criticised their choice to wear heels quoting British psychologist Paul Morris: “High heels just exaggerate the femaleness of the walk…they are just buying into traditional binary views of male and female.”
