Gregory Porter announces 2018 tour: How to get tickets to see hat-wearing star in concert

The Grammy Award-winning jazz and soul singer will play 12 shows when he hits the road next April.

Tickets will be on sale from 9am this Thursday, August 31.

The jaunt starts at the Birmingham Symphony Hall on April 5 and 6, before moving to the Liverpool Empire (April 7), Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (April 8), Nottingham Royal Court Hall (April 10) and Cardiff St David’s Hall (April 11).

He then continues to the Manchester Apollo (April 12), Leeds First Direct Arena (April 13), Sheffield City Hall (April 5), Bournemouth BIC (April 17) and the Royal Albert Hall in London (April 18 and 19).

The London shows only will see Porter joined by a full symphony orchestra, as well as his usual band.

Tickets vary from £35.00 to £80.00 and will be on sale from Ticketline.co.uk, or directly from the individual venues.

Porter has had a phenomenally successful few years, and last year told The Telegraph: “Time and time again I hear people tell me they don’t like jazz but they like this.

“I’ve got to break it to them, well, you do like jazz, you just have a different idea of what you think it is. The umbrella is so wide, it’s got room to shelter all kinds of wonderful.”

“If it’s not pure jazz, it’s damn near next door, music from the same people in the same neighbourhood.

“One critic called me nothing but a blues singer, as though that was a slight. That is the highest compliment there is.”

Porter’s latest album Take Me To The Alley peaked at No5 in the UK last year.
