Ivanka Trump: Is THIS why Donald Trump daughter doesn’t use husband Jared Kushner’s name?

Ivanka, 35, and Jared, 36, were wed in a lavish reception at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

The bride wore a custom Vera Wang gown for the big day, which went ahead just three months after the couple got engaged.

Donald, 71, made a short and sweet toast in which he was reported to have told the couple to “be happy and enjoy your life”.

But despite tradition seeming to dictate every other area of the wedding, Ivanka took the slightly unusual step of not changing her surname.

And some have wondered why this might be, with internet users taking to Quora to search for answers.

One user, Nanci Jean, of LLM Pace University School of Law, responded: “She relied on her right to continue to use her maiden name.

“At the time they apply for a marriage license in NYS, they indicate what name or names they will choose to use after marriage, including the adoption by the husband of the wife’s name. Why didn’t Jared Kushner become Jared Trump?”

Another user, Linda Robinson, pointed out: “It is becoming more and more common for married women to continue to use their maiden names, especially if they have a career where they are well-known before marriage.”

But several others thought there could be a more commercial reason for Ivanka sticking with her maiden name.

Bryan Turner wrote: “Trump is a more famous name than Kushner. Ivanka decided to keep her name.”

Eileen Wood said: “She is both Ivanka Kushner AND Ivanka Trump. Both are legal names she can use.

“It is not uncommon for well-known women to continue to use their maiden names in business/social contexts. Elizabeth Taylor, for instance, was always Elizabeth Taylor no matter which of her 8 husbands was at home at the time.

“However, when signing absent notes for the kids for school, it would be perfectly correct for Ivanka to sign ‘Ivanka Kushner’ or ‘Mrs Jared Kushner’ or ‘Ivanka Trump’ or ‘Ivanka Trump Kushner’.”

As the First Daughter has taken on increasing amounts of responsibility in the Trump administration, she has found herself coming under fire from different angles.

One of the more bizarre criticisms she has faced has been over her shoes.

Nina Burleigh wrote an article attacking the First Lady and First Daughter for their shoe choices.
