Excitement continues to build around the impending launch of the iPhone 8.
Apple is expected to bring some radical changes to its popular smartphone with rumours suggesting an edge-to-edge display is coming to the iPhone for the first time.
This giant screen is thought to cover the entire front of the device allowing more room for content in a smartphone that’s physically smaller to squeeze in your pocket.
Other new features thought to be coming to the next generation phone is a much faster A11 processor, new dual-lens camera and ability to unlock the AMOLED screen just by looking at it.
However, one of the most exiting new additions to the iPhone 8 could be the ability to charge the device wirelessly.

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.
The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.
Rumours are rife that Apple is bringing wireless charging to its iPhone with one leaked image even claiming to show the technology that will be used inside the device.
The picture, which has been published on Chinese blog site Weibo, appears to show a small coiled wire which will be placed inside the iPhone 8.
If Apple gets this technology right, it could mean the end of searching for a cable to get a refill.
Wireless charging is sure to go down well with iPhone fans but it does come with one issue.
For the technology to work properly the casing around the device cannot be made of metal – a material Apple has been using for a number of years.
Instead, a rear cover made of glass is needed to create the perfect environment to refill the device without using a lead.
There have been plenty of leaked images showing the new iPhone with a glass rear case but, as many smartphone owners will already have discovered, this fragile material is not a fan of being dropped.
Smashed screens are a regular sight which can be costly to repair and now iPhone users could be faced with the issue of both front and back getting damaged if dropped by mistake.
Samsung’s latest and greatest Galaxy S8 device has an all glass design which looks stunning but those looks can be ruined in an instant if it happens to fall from your hand.
Samsung’s Galaxy S8 drop tests, performed earlier this year, showed it doesn’t cope well.
The team at SquareTrade revealed that the S8 is the first phone they’ve tested that cracked on the first drop on ALL sides.
The cracks become so bad they cover almost the entire front and rear of the phone making it almost unusable.
SquareTrade ended up rating the Galaxy S8 with a medium-high risk of breakability.
They also said the test found “no matter how you drop it, the “screen without limits” is no match for the sidewalk.”
It’s currently unclear how Apple will combat the problems that are associated with a glass finish but we should discover more in the next few weeks.
Apple looks likely to reveal all in early Septmember.
